SIR DAVID, CBE died peacefully on 4th March 2020 in Macclesfield, Cheshire on the 84th anniversary of his birth in Blantyre, Malawi. A well respected and thoughtful man, he will be greatly missed by his dear wife Fiona, his children Alison and Jonathan, grandchildren Sophie, Lucy, Polly, Mo and Sam, great-grandson Indy and sisters Heather and Jill. The wisdom, kindness and good humour he carried throughout his life placed him at the core of a large family and an extensive community of friends, neighbours and colleagues. Our sadness at losing him is tempered only by gratitude for the many wonderful years we spent together. A private family funeral will be held at St. Catherine's Church, Birtles with a service in celebration of his life at a later date. No flowers please but donations to Cancer Research UK.
