Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War
Arthur E. Knutsen, 95, of West Caldwell, N.J., formerly of Livingston, N.J., passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2020.
Born in Hoboken, N.J., Arthur was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., by Elsie and Sigvart Knutsen. He would go on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Arthur was a member of the , American Legion, Disabled Veterans, and the Old Guard of Caldwell, N.J.
Arthur was a diesel mechanic for Cummins for 33 years from which he retired in 1990. He lived in Livingston, N.J., for 41 years before moving to Crane's Mill in West Caldwell in 2003, where he would lend his service to various committees. He was active in the Grace Lutheran community as well, serving as their head deacon.
Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Janet Knutsen, and his dear sister, Lillian Boberg.
A visitation will be held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J., on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, 304 South Livingston Ave., Livingston, N.J., on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. Interment is private at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J.
