HURD, Beverly Jean Button Beverly Jean Button Hurd, 81, of Pawleys Island, SC, returned to the loving embrace of our Lord on January 4th after a life well and lovingly lived. Beverly was born on November 9, 1938 to Opal and Marion Button in Oklahoma City, OK. Always in the top of her class, Beverly graduated from Northeast High School in 1955, and was graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Oklahoma City University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching Mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas. Beverly met the love of her life, an OU medical student named Eric R. Hurd, on a blind date while attending OCU, and soon thereafter they were married. They moved to Dallas where Beverly began her career as a distinguished teacher of mathematics, serving for over 25 years at St. Marks School of Texas, where her service was commemorated by inscription on the walls of Centennial Hall. Dr. Eric and Beverly Hurd enjoyed a life of mutual adoration that was unforgettable to all so Blessed to know them. Together they traveled the world. And every person they met remarked of Beverly's irrepressible and unpresuming kindness. After Beverly and Eric's retirement to Pawleys Island, Beverly opened a vibrant new chapter in her life which included a cherished community of friends from Pawleys Island Community Church (especially her 'Lunch Bunch'), the Tradition Golf Club and her 'Ladies 9-Hole Group', art and dance lessons, countless visits to Brookgreen Gardens and Litchfield Beach, and joyful visits from her grandchildren. Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Eric, and son, Brent. She is survived by her children, Sherryl Swindler, Susan (Tim) Weil, granddaughters, Margaux and Hedy, daughter-in-law, Denise Brien, 'sisters' Dorothea Leonard, Mildred Culpepper and Dee Ely, and her St. Marks Family. The Family will celebrate Beverly's life in a private service.
