SMITH, Brian Edward Brian Edward Smith of Mid-lothian, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 due to a brain hemorrhage. He was 63 years old. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 3, 1956, Brian was the oldest of three children. Brian graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1974. He joined the U.S. Army in 1974, completing basic training in Ft. Ord, California and Finance Specialist training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, before eventually being stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany. In Germany, he met his future wife. They were married in 1978 and would spend the next 41 years of life together. For his service in the Army, Brian received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He graduated from Columbia College in 1989 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Brian would go on to a career in banking operations before joining the insurance industry. He once served nine months working and living on site out of an RV in order to better and more quickly serve hurricane victims. His most recent position was with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement - Dallas Finance Center. He enjoyed serving others and made friends with many coworkers. A two-time lymphoma cancer survivor, Brian was actively involved in the Relay for Life of Ellis County, raising funds and awareness. He was a dedicated Freemason and active part of the Metropolitan Lodge #1182, serving as Worshipful Master from 2018-2019. Brian loved fellowship with his brothers in the Masons. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his beloved wife and visiting his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated fan of the Texas A&M Fightin' Aggies and also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play. Brian enjoyed cooking and serving others, including meals at home with family and at the Masonic Lodge. Brian Smith is survived by his wife; one sister; two sons and two daughters-in-law; and three grandchildren.
