Barbara A. (nee Kirk) Jaspan, 81, of Manasquan, N.J., passed away at home on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., where she was a graduate of Holy Rosary Grammar School and Battin High School. She was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth before moving to Manasquan 12 years ago. Barbara was a communicant of St Genevieve Church, Elizabeth, N.J., and St. Elizabeth Church, Linden, N.J., where she was a member of the choir and a Cub Scout leader.
Upon moving to Manasquan, she became a communicant of St. Denis Church. Barbara worked for Public Service Electric and Gas in Elizabeth. She was owner and operator of Jaspan Bros Retail Hardware in Elizabeth for 35 years and Cardville Card and Gift Store in Elizabeth for 10 years. Barbara was also owner of the family-operated restaurants, Ivy League Bar and Grill and the Chapter House Bar and Grill, both of Howell, N.J.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Jaspan of Manasquan; her three beloved children, Patricia Fallon (Jim), Thomas Jaspan (Denise Mesaros), and Paul Jaspan (Ellen). Barbara was the cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Matthew Fallon, Kevin Fallon (Stephanie), Caitlyn Rogers (Brendan), Maggie, Erin, Dylan and Ryan Jaspan, and great-granddaughter, Amelia Rogers. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Chirico; brother-in-law, Donald Jaspan (Anne); and sister, Joan Keller, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was predeceased by a son, Michael Jaspan; her parents, John Kirk and Mary (nee McCabe) Kirk; two sisters, Maureen Linkevich and Bonnie Kirk, and a brother, Eugene Kirk.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Rd., Manasquan, N.J. 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at St Denis Church, Manasquan, N.J. Entombment will follow at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
