Alan Michael Chodorcoff of Montville, N.J., passed away at on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019. He was 79. Born in East Orange, N.J., and raised in West Orange, N.J., Michael, as all knew him, lived in West Orange and later Montville.
A member of the U.S. Army Reserve after graduating from college, Michael worked in the insurance industry, last as an independent with the Benefit Foundation in Wayne.
Michael was a member, board member and past treasurer of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills. He was a member, past president and board member of over 20 years with the Mount Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell. Michael was also past president of the Federation of Diabetes Research in Livingston and hosted their annual golf outing for over 20 years.
Surviving is Michael's wife, Jean (Urtnowski); children: William Chodorcoff and his wife, Leslie, Brian Chodorcoff and his wife, Brittany, and Maria and her husband, Seth Kaufman; three grandchildren: Katie, Sarah and Cole plus Michael's sister, Karen and her husband, Dr. Richard Irlando, along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston.
