BICZYNSKI, Andrew L Andrew L Biczynski, long time Dallas resident, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at home in the arms of his wife and family. Born Andrzej Ludwik in Lublin, Poland, March 1, 1926, Andre' was a courier in the Polish Underground Army in WWII. Gestapo arrested him at age 17 in 1943 just before his first piano recital. He dreamt of being a concert pianist. He was sent first to Auschwitz and later to Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria. Gen.Geo. Patton's 11th Armored Division liberated him May 5, 1945. In later years Andre' reconnected with his liberators, including some from the Dallas area, and spoke at their final reunion. His title: A Grateful Survivor. Unable to return to Poland under Communism, Andre' joined the British 8th Army and was one of half million Poles brought to England postwar. A gifted linguist, Andre' attended universities in Huddersfield, England; College of Free Europe in Strasbourg, France; the University of Geneva, Switzerland; SMU, where he met his wife, Patricia Carr, a Highland Park HS graduate; and Georgetown University, Washington DC. Hired by Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) he "chased goats and rabbits" in Mangum, OK, where he drove a dynamite truck!, later traveling world-wide for major cosmetic companies "making ladies beautiful." Last of the bigtime swashbucklers, Andre' swooped into foreign countries forever landing in the midst of uprisings, revolutions and coup d'etats, while formulating shampoo and makeup. Andre' and Pat were married for 61 years. Proud of his four children- John, Dr. Margaret B. Christensen, Michael and Chris- he boasted "good production, Biczynski!" The family's 13th move was to Dallas in 1973, where he represented perfume mfrs. until retirement. Andre taught the love of travel, languages, poetry, food, and music to his kids, 10 grandchildren, and 4 g-grandkids, who all adored him as their funny, crazy Dziadzio who could wiggle his ears.
