BOGER, Barbara "Bobbie" Bobbie was born in Waterloo, Iowa to James H. Brooks & F. Gilberta Rose, their only child. She graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1960, attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado and received her B.S. degree in Medical Technology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. While in Galveston, she met and married James Allen Boger, M.D. In 1973 when he accepted a position in Pediatrics at Methodist Dallas Central Hospital, they moved to the East Kessler Park neighborhood where invitations to her dinner club and parties were highly coveted. Her med tech career spanned 8 years at Parkland's Hematology Lab, at UT-Southwestern Medical School's Organ Donor & Transplant program and 14 years at Medical City Hospital's Microbiology Department. She helped the Dallas Police Department establish their 1st Offender Drug Program, and she was a volunteer with doping control at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Bobbie was actively involved with the First United Methodist Church, going on mission trips to Haiti and throughout Latin America, a member of the UMW Ruth Circle, teaching Sunday School, sewing altar cloths and rail cushions and crocheting prayer shawls. With the Happy Hookers, she knit hats for chemotherapy patients and wove plastic mats for homeless people to sleep on. She was a 55-year member of P.E.O., an organization providing scholarship opportunities for furthering the education of women. She was also a 24-year volunteer with the Byron Nelson Golf Classic, as well as an ardent volunteer with the Dallas Symphony and the Dallas Opera. She will be remembered most for her generosity in helping others and making this world a kinder place than she found it. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the main sanctuary of First United Methodist Church located at 1928 Ross Ave, Dallas, TX 75201. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and her son David Vincent Boger. She is survived by her son James Robert Boger and two granddaughters Arielle and Emily Boger.
