Anthony J. Alves Jr., 72, of Bloomfield, N.J., passed away on Aug. 12, 2019.

Born in Irvington, N.J. to the late Anthony J. and Amelia Alves, Anthony lived in Cedar Grove before settling in Bloomfield. He was an instrumentation mechanic with DuPont, Newark, N.J., prior to retiring.
Predeceased by his son, Matthew Alves, sister, Linda Willever, and his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Anna Van Pelt and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Paige Van Pelt and another on the way; his wife, Nancy Alves; sisters, Maria Alves-Schemetow and Toni Lee High, and nieces and nephews.
