Andrew Favata, 83, of Nutley, N.J., passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019.
Born in Newark, the son of the late Leonard and Louise (Zuppa) Favata, Andrew lived in Bloomfield, N.J., prior to moving to Nutley.
Andrew attended Upsala College of East Orange, N.J., and retired as an insurance agent. He was a history and ancient artifact enthusiast, an avid newspaper reader and absolutely loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Bongiovanni) Favata, he is survived by his children, Louise Ruffo and her husband, Peter, Andrea Malone and her husband, Robert, Leonard Favata and his wife, Michele, Andrew Favata and his wife, Maria, and Victoria Moran and her husband, Chris; his brother, Pasquale "Pat" Favata and his wife, Carol; seven grandchildren, Christina Yurkoski and her husband, Steven, Stephanie Ruffo, Deanna Favata-Mangione and her wife, Brittany, Nicholas Favata, Alexa Malone, Alyssa and Andrew Favata and his great-grandchildren, Angelina and Luke Yurkoski. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandson, Leonard Favata.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, in the chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, N.J., at 11 a.m. The entombment will immediately follow the service. Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the National Shrine of St. Gerard, c/o St. Lucy's Church, 118 7th Ave., Newark, N.J. 07104 would be preferred.
