Dearly missed by all those she raised, took care of, and guided
Anne Bess passed away on Oct. 12, 2019.
Anne was born and raised in New Brunswick, N.J., daughter of Chester and Hulda Peterson, the middle sister of Dr. Chester Peterson and Vivian Anderson.
Anne married Edwin Earle Bess on May 30, 1953. Ed passed away on Aug. 4, 2002.
Anne is survived by her two sons and their families: Mark, Donna, Cleo, and Ray, David, Judith, and Sebastian; the nieces and nephews of Chester and Vivian; her grand-nephew, Dr. Collins Lewis, her extended family, and the many others who may not be related by blood, but were 'family' to Anne: Mt. Zion AME Church, New Brunswick, N.J., St. John's Episcopal Church, Montclair, N.J., The Order of the Eastern Star, Progressive Lodge No. 17 PH F&AM, and to all those who were raised, taken care of and guided by Anne Bess.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, 55 Montclair Ave., Montclair. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church.
