Ann Collins Mauzé January 28, 1940 – September 7, 2019Ann Mauzé died on Saturday, September 7, 2019 after a two-year battle with cancer. Her husband, George Mauzé, III, of Napa, California, and two sons, Michael L. Mauzé of San Francisco, California, and William H. Mauzé of Charlotte, North Carolina, were with her.
Ann was born in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio, where she attended high school. She graduated from William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, and met her husband, George. George graduated from Westminster College, also in Fulton, Missouri.
After her marriage to George in 1959, she lived in St. Louis, Missouri, where she and George had their two sons. She moved with the family to Summit, New Jersey, in 1974. Ann was active in many organizations, including serving as President of the Junior League.
Ann started her business career working part-time for a public relations firm in Summit, New Jersey. In 1990, she moved to WNET, the public television station in New York City. By the time she retired in 2001, Ann headed up the Educational Resources and National Outreach for the station. Her husband retired in 2002.
In 2002, Ann and George moved from New York City to their weekend home in Bay Head, New Jersey. They spent three winters in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and then moved there fulltime in 2006. Once again, active in many organizations, Ann served as President of Patronatos Pro Ninos, a large organization providing health and dental care to poor Mexican children. Diagnosed with cancer in early 2018, Ann and her husband moved to the San Francisco area so that she could receive treatment at UCSF.
Ann was beloved by her many friends and extended family who describe her as creative, smart, witty, and caring. She was a natural leader, a force for good, and a compassionate soul whose beauty was reflected in all that she touched. Ann will always be remembered as one who left the world a better place than she found it.
In addition to her husband and two sons, Ann is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Alison Mauzé of San Francisco, CA, and Jean Mauzé of Charlotte, NC, and seven grandchildren. The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico on November 9, 2019.
