U.S. Army vet, loved travel, beloved husband, father, grandfather
Brian P. Matuszkiewicz Sr., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J.
Born and raised in Quakake, Pa., Brian lived in Piscataway, N.J., for 39 years and then he and his wife, Viola spent 10 years traveling around the country in an RV, eventually buying a home in Minneola, Fla. For the past 12 years they have resided in Brick. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany for 18 months. Brian was a member of the Bound Brook Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 12 in Somerville, N.J., The Possumtown Volunteer Fire Company and the Roosevelt Sport's Club in Bound Brook. He enjoyed gardening and remodeling homes. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved to travel.
Brian was predeceased by his 12 brothers and sisters; his son-in-law, Robert, and his grandson, Robert Jr.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Viola; his children, Brian Matuszkiewicz Jr. and his wife, Debra Ann, David Matuszkiewicz and his wife, Nora, and Patricia Bruno; his grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Christina, Jonathan and his wife, Lindsay, Brian III and Nicholas; his great grandchildren, Alex, Emma Grace, Mason, Eva and Mila.
Viewing will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a service being held at 7:30 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. The interment and military honors will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.
