Albert Stanley Koczur
Longtime civil engineer with N.J. Turnpike and Navy veteran
Albert Stanley Koczur, formerly of Livingston, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the age of 85.
Albert served in the U.S. Navy and attended Rutgers University. He graduated with his degree in civil engineering and then worked for many years as an engineer with the N.J. Turnpike.
After he retired, he became the sole at-home caregiver for his wife, Joan Koczur, who suffered from MS until her passing in 2009. Shortly thereafter, he began suffering from Alzheimer's and spent his last years at an Alzheimer's care facility in Westlake, Ohio, near his son, Christian.
Albert Koczur was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., and was the youngest of 10 children. He was the loving son of the late Piotr and Angela (Kawalec) Koczur.
He is survived by his brothers, Stanley (Erna) and Joseph; sons, Matthew (Anne) and Christian (Heather); grandchildren, Jonathan, Megan, Marisa, Eva, and Molly and great-granddaughter, Emilia.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J.
