Adonis Haight Nielson, Jr.

Adonis Haight Nielson, Jr., 84, passed away February 23, 2019 in his home in Holladay, Utah. He was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Burley, Idaho to Adonis Haight Nielson and Jane Anderson Nielson. He married Marian West on September 16, 1955, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After the death of his first wife in October 1998, he married Joan Child Gibb on May 13, 2000 in Holladay, Utah.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Child Gibb Nielson; his son, Adonis Richard Nielson (Liz); daughter, Michael Tamyra Covington (Bud); step-sons: Steven Gibb, Daniel Gibb, Michael Gibb; step-daughter, Joanna Gibb Timothy (Scott); granddaughters: Hailey Nielson, Paige Covington; grandsons: Trevor Hansen (Wendy), Zach Nielson, Adam Covington (Clari); and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Nielson Parsons (Theodore II). He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Nielson.
The family would like to express gratitude to the caregivers at Tender Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., March 2, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay 25th Ward, 4650 South Naniloa Dr. Viewings will be held at the church on Friday, March 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
