THOMPSON, Dr. B. Cecil Dr. B. Cecil Thompson entered Heaven's gates on May 29, 2019, in Arlington, TX. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Center St., Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 3-5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: Donations may be made to the Herrmann /Thompson Planetarium Fund at UTA, https://giving.uta.edu/Cecil_Thompson_Memorial or to Restore Hope c/o First Baptist Church Arlington or Mission Arlington. Cecil was born at home on December 18, 1935, in Baird, TX. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees at North Texas State University where he met the love of his life, Jo. They married on May 30, 1959, at Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne. Cecil earned a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Texas at Austin. Jo and Cecil moved to Arlington in 1965, for him to teach at Arlington State College, now known as UTA. He taught many classes during his 35-year tenure with the Physics department and earned the distinction of Professor Emeritus. Cecil was a Godly man who enjoyed his family, kayaking, glider planes, having his pilot's license, race cars, the Cadillac Club, crossword puzzles, Suduko, and especially treating people to dinner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Ina Pearl Thompson; brothers, Fred (Ting), Oliver Dee (Tommy); and sister, Dee King. Survivors: Cecil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo Moreland Thompson; daughters, Sarah and Denis Cole, Alyce and Courtney Monroe; grandchildren, April Perry and fiancée, Erik McWhirter, Amber and Brandon West, Bethanne Monroe, Evan Cole, and Max Cole; as well as a host of friends who are family.
