TAYLOR, Alice K. Age 96, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2019 at Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC. She was born in St. Louis, MO on October 25, 1922, and was known throughout her life for her warmth, cleverness, humor, love, and tenacity. Her parents were Frances Boren Keitz and Elmer John Keitz, and she was the oldest of three children. Her father passed away when she was only age 6. She moved with her mother and two younger brothers, Jack and Roddy, to Dallas, TX to be closer to extended family. As a young woman, she caught the eye of Joe C Taylor working at Mercantile National Bank in downtown Dallas. She enjoyed 65 joyful years of marriage with him until his death in 2011. In 2012, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Charles K. Cone, moving back to Dallas to enjoy five beautiful years of marriage until his death in 2017. She spent her early life in Dallas, later moving with Joe to New Orleans in 1964 with their three children (Randy, Joseph, and D. Alice). There, she worked at Metairie Park Country Day School as an administrative assistant where she lovingly poured herself into the school and students for 23 years. Her later years were spent in Flat Rock, NC, close to her daughter, son, and grandchildren. She volunteered at the Green River Library once a week and enjoyed living in the Kenmure Community. She charmed all who crossed her path into playing Mah Jongg or a card game (especially bridge, her favorite). A lover of language and learning, Alice was known to finish the Wall Street Journal Crossword puzzle daily (and often competed with her son, Randy) and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling with extended family to various locations including: Costa Rica, Turkey, Alaska, and Hawaii. She was adored by her surviving family members: her daughter, D. Alice, five grandchildren (Jennifer, Alejandro, Cailin, Gavin, and Adriano) as well as three great-grandchildren (Dario, Marco, and Tatiana). She was preceded in death by husbands Joe C Taylor and Charles K. Cone, as well as both sons, Randy and Joseph Taylor.
