JEFFREY, Edgar Allen Edgar Allen Jeffrey, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born November 11, 1927 to John George Jeffrey and Mary Virginia Anderson Jeffrey in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Burlington High School in Iowa he along with his twin brother, Robert, enlisted in the Navy on April 19, 1945. He served on the U.S.S. St. George (AV-16) and the U.S.S. Curtiss (AV-4) until he was honorably discharged in August of 1946. During the Korean War he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and called back to active duty. After completing training stateside he was shipped to Korea where he commanded a company of engineers. During his tour he was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. He attended the State University of Iowa earning both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Doctorate degree in Sanitary Engineering. He taught for five years at the University of Missouri then in 1963 began a life long career with the Public Health Service that included over two decades with the Environmental Protection Agency from 1970 until his retirement in 1990 at a rank of 0-6. He continued working for the agency on a part time basis after retirement until recent years. Throughout much of his career he was known as Dr. Ed to co-workers and friends alike. He was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Water Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. He was devout in his Faith, offered a hand to those in need without asking for anything in return, and taught those he loved most to do the same. He was a quiet soft spoken man who had a quick wit, a contagious smile, and a sparkle in his eyes that all those who knew and loved him will remember and hold dear for all the days to come. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne Carspecken Jeffrey, his parents, his twin brother, Robert Jeffrey, older brothers Jack Jeffrey and Richard Jeffrey, and sister Margaret Jeffrey Cole. He is survived by his daughters, Laurie Jeffrey Wilson (Michael) and Susan Jeffrey Nash (Terry) and his son Timothy Allen Jeffrey (Sherri.) He is also survived by his grandchildren who adored their "Papa", Susie Sibley (Mike), Christopher Travis, Jeffrey Travis (Kim), Ryan Wilson, Anna Wilson, Hunter Jeffrey, Ainsley Jeffrey, Ashley Jeffrey, and Justin Jeffrey; and his great-grandchildren, Colton Travis, Jordan Travis, and Emerson Travis. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews, Jill, John, Rob, Paula, David, Doug, Marla, Nora, and Megan who mourn the loss of their dear Uncle Ed. Services will be held at 12:30 on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the .
