HITZELBERGER, Barbara Lee Lomax Barbara Lee Lomax was born on April 15, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Katharine Sheard and Thornton G. Lomax, Jr., and passed away on August 3, 2019. Her family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1933. She attended Southern Methodist University where she served on the Student Senate and was President of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. On December 16, 1949 she married William H. Hitzelberger, Jr. They celebrated fifty two years of marriage prior to his death in 2001. She met William James "Jim" Wooten at the Highland Park High School Golden Scot Reunion in Sept. 2005; they married November 2006. Since the mid-80s, Barbara has served the City of University Park on numerous committees and boards, was appointed a commissioner, and elected to the council. She served as Mayor from 1992- 94. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, Bill Hitzelberger and Jim Wooten, her infant son, John Alan, and her sister, Louise. Survivors include: sons, William H. Hitzelberger III, his wife Linda, their children Will and wife, Jaki, their sons Wm. H. Hitzelberger IV "Quinn" and Parks, Kristen and husband, Chase White, their daughters Elle and Mary Mills, and Scott; Robert Lomax Hitzelberger, his wife Debra, their children Kay and Jack; James Lee Hitzelberger, his wife Laurie, and his sons Christian, Michael, and Mark; nieces, Catherine Howell, Ruth Howell Medlyn and husband Gregg, Barbara Howell Christopher, husband Ian, and son, Thomas, and Jim Wooten's sons & their families. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service and reception will be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Rd., Dallas, TX 75220, at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 7, 2019.
