AYALA, Carmen Carmen Medina Ayala, 95, beloved mother, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, March 7, 2019, surrounded by her family. Carmen was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 14, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home-North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas 75220. Interment: Calvary Hill Cemetery Visitation: Wednesday, March 13, from 4 PM to 8 PM with Rosary at 7 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Our mother, Carmen, was born January 24, 1924 in Malakoff, Texas to Pedro and Carolina Flores Medina. Her family moved to Dallas to find work when the coal mines in Malakoff closed. As a young woman, she picked crops in Michigan, worked at the Baker Hotel and in an egg processing plant and was a seamstress at Facho Children's Garments. She married the love of her life, Richard H. Ayala, on September 27, 1945. When he returned from the Army, they began their family and were blessed with twelve children. Carmen was a homemaker who intermittently contributed to the family income by working at Facho. She was our dad's partner and helper when he opened Ayala's Body Shop in 1975. In 1982, our parents sold their property on Harwood St. and moved to their Sunnyvale home. She helped our dad move Ayala's Body Shop to Lake June Rd and then to its current location on Pemberton Hill. Throughout her life, Carmen was a true example of a virtuous woman, hard-working, giving, kind, supportive and strong. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church when they lived on Harwood St. and, most recently, a member of Divine Mercy of Our Lord Catholic Church. A faith-filled woman, she prayed for her family daily. She passed on her strong faith by sending all twelve of her children to St. Ann's Catholic School. We were privileged to celebrate our parents' 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries with them. On January 24, 2019, we celebrated mom's 95th birthday. We will always remember her radiant, smiling face and delighted laughter as she posed for birthday pictures with her grandchildren. We, her children and grandchildren, treasure our time with her and will forever cherish her memory. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard H. Ayala, her parents, Pedro and Carolina Flores Medina, grandsons, Richard Pereyda and Charlie Ayala, great-granddaughter, Samantha Jocelyn Nanez, great-grandsons, Richard Eli Trevino Garcia and Rafael Esteban Trevino Garcia and sisters, Cirilda Castaneda and Virginia Herrera. Survivors: Daughters, Juanita Cisneros, Mary Pereyda, Yolanda Ayala, Olivia Martinez, Carol Esquivel, Rebecca Ayala, Margaret Nanez and Josephine Alvarez. Sons, Richard Ayala, Gilbert Ayala, Victor Ayala and Carlos Ayala. 29 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 12 great, great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers in law and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
