West Orange centenarian, devoted homemaker, a founder of the Toms River chapter of ARC
Anna Vicari (nee Cantelmo), 100, of West Orange, N.J., passed away on March 26, 2019, at the Daughters of Israel Pleasant Valley Home, West Orange.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Church, 44 Benvenue Ave., West Orange, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 10 a.m.
Anna was a resident of Toms River, N.J., and lived in West Orange. She was a homemaker, and a good cook and baker. Anna devoted her life to taking care of her husband, Joseph, her sons, Peter and Philip. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna was a founder of the Toms River, N.J., chapter of ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens), a group home for special needs men over 21 years of age. Anna was also a talented artist.
She was the wife of the late Joseph; mother of Philip and his wife, Mindy, and the late Peter; sister of Grace Perillo; grandmother of Joseph, Michael and his wife, Laura, Paul and his wife, Jessica, and Johnathan, and great-grandmother of Anthony and Vincent.
The family prefers donations to the Daughters of Israel Pleasant Valley Home, 1155 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, N.J. 07052. Arrangements are by the Galante Funeral Home, Caldwell, N.J.
