We celebrate the life of Alfred 'Freddy' Pitaro, beloved husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Alfred, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Alfred was born in Aprigliano, Italy, and moved to Jersey City, N.J., in 1945. He worked at Western Electric as a technician and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was also an armed forces veteran from the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ines (Cervo) Pitaro, and their four children, Rossana (Pasquale), Gisella (Joseph), Gene, and Franco (Ramona and son, Jared). Nonno adored his five grandchildren, Desirée, Nicholas, Gabriella, Joseph and Anthony. He was the cherished brother of Giuseppina (Pitaro) Romano, and uncle to Silvia, Francesca, Concetta and Francesco.
Visitation will be at Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville, N.J., on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of God in Hillsborough, N.J., on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to in his honor.
