Andrea Mollica, 87, of Bloomfield, N.J., passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Born in Sicily, Italy, to the late Rosario and Santa (Sidoti) Mollica, he lived in Sicily until he moved to Bloomfield 64 years ago.
While living in Italy, he worked as a military policeman. After immigrating to the U.S. he worked as a freight manager for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a butcher and owned his own grocery store in Newark, N.J.
He was an avid bowler and fisherman and loved playing cards.
Andrea is survived by his children, Cynthia, Russell and Tina Marie Mollica; granddaughter, Jennifer Grace Mollica, and sister in Italy, Giuseppina Mollica. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by 12 sisters and brothers.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 9, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belleville , N.J., at 11 a.m.
The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in North Arlington, N.J. Visitors will be received on Thursday at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, N.J., from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a would be appreciated.
