Great-grandfather of 10, roofing company owner, Army veteran
Abraham Mickens, 77, made his transition March 31, 2019.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ, 115 Greenwood Ave., Montclair, N.J. Interment is at Fairmount Cemetery, Newark, N.J. Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home.
Abraham was born in and resided in Bishopville, S.C., for 12 years. A resident of Newark for 65 years, he was the owner and operator of M&M Roofing. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Abraham was the beloved husband of Virginia Mickens; devoted father of Anjill Broadie (Michael), Josette Wray, Duane Mickens and Dona Valisha Mickens-Allen (Eric); dear son of the late David Mickens and Stammie Bell Mickens, and loving brother of Sarah Mickens (his twin) and Darryl Smith. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
