Carmela T. LaTrace, 87, of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away on April 18, 2019.
Services begin on Tuesday, April 23 at 9 a.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove, with private cremation following. Visitation will be on Monday, April 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Oreste and Anna Maria Marotta, Carmela settled in Cedar Grove in 1969.
She was an administrative assistant for NY Life prior to retiring. Above all else, Carmela was devoted to her family. She was a great homemaker, loved her family, and loved to cook. She especially enjoyed passing her treasured recipes down to the next generation. She was as an avid reader, enjoyed spending time down the Shore, and listening to Italian music.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank, and seven siblings, Carmela is survived by her children, Michael LaTrace (Barbara) and Evemarie Buzzelli (Marc); grandchildren, Ashley LaTrace-Faris (Karim), Michael LaTrace, Marc Buzzelli, Matthew Buzzelli, and Michael Buzzelli; and brother, Orlando Marotta.
