Bessie Mae Sanders Kennedy, 86, made her transition on July 26, 2019.
Born in Society Hill, S.C., she was a resident of Newark, N.J. She was a retired certified nursing assistant/domestic service worker.
Bessie was the beloved mother of Barbara Bearfield, Janet Kennedy, Deborah Kennedy Johnson (Dale), Marvin, Wayne and Frederick Kennedy; dear daughter of the late Oceola and Emma Sanders, and the loving sister of Queenester Thomas, Helenia Jackson, Evangelist Dorothy Joyner and the late Hallie Brisbon, Christine Ketter, Wilhelmenia Byners, Jessie, Loma, Otis and Joseph Sanders. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter, and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Lydia Baptist Church, 397-403 Lyons Ave., Newark. Interment is at Fairmount Cemetery, Newark. Visitation is on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home.
