Brian T. DeVeau
Investment analyst and managing director, standout football player at Kinnelon H.S., adored son, brother, and grandson
Brian T. DeVeau of Kinnelon, N.J., died Sunday, June 23, 2019, in a tragic car accident in Wrightwood, Calif. He was 28.
Born in New Haven, Conn., Brian was the second of three children born to Jim and Lisa DeVeau.
Moving to Kinnelon in 1996, Brian was raised in Kinnelon, spending much of his youth on the township's football fields. Idolizing his older brother, Michael, Brian couldn't wait for a chance to play in Kinnelon Youth Football like him, and his passion for the sport led him to a successful high school career, where he served the Colts as quarterback, running back, defensive safety and was a member of the All-County team.
Brian wasn't only known for his excellence on the field. He was a smart, driven young man as well, and his intelligence gained him admittance to Columbia University, where he earned his B.S. in economics, and played defensive back and offensive slot back for the college's varsity football team.
Graduating in 2013, Brian worked for Merrill Lynch as an investment analyst and Mizuho Bank as an associate investment banker before taking a break to pursue his M.B.A.
While studying for his entrance exams, his father convinced him to help Taylored Services, LLC. expand the business where Brian worked for the past year as the managing director of mergers & acquisitions.
Even since he was a child, Brian was an incredibly focused, hard-working person. When he wanted to relax, he found the exertion of physical exercise to be his release. His father would often suggest he enjoy life's journey vs. focusing on the next destination, yet Brian always remained dedicated to the task at hand.
He was always a quiet, reserved person, just like his mom, Lisa, and though he did not surround himself with a ton of friends, the few he had he held close to the vest. Brian's family, too, was always extremely important to him. He admired his older brother, Michael, throughout his life, and adored his baby sister, LauriAnn, as well. The relationship he had with his father, Jim, was truly special as well, and the two bonded not only over football but their shared passion for work and excellence in business.
Brian will always be remembered for his kind, quiet nature, and for his willingness to always go above and beyond for those he loved.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Lisa DeVeau; his sib-lings, Michael and LauriAnn; his grandparents, Albino and Mary Ann Paccioretti, and J. Leo Deveau and his wife, Susan; his aunt, Laura Butterfield, her husband, John, and their children, John Michael, Julianne and Justin; his uncle, John Deveau, his wife, Heidi, and their children, Ian and Danae; and his aunt, Kathy Deveau, and her children, Morgan, Benjamin and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Beatrice DiGiovanni and her husband, Frank.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, July 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains, N.J. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 21, from the funeral home and will proceed to a 2 p.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Rd., Kinnelon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery following Mass.
