Aretha Janet Coachman, 62, of Newark, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church, 15-21 Sanford St., East Orange, N.J. Visitation is on Friday at 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment is at Fairmount Cemetery in Newark. Arrangements are by Woody Home For Services, Orange, N.J.
Aretha was a lifelong resident of Newark. She was employed as a teacher at Elizabeth High School, where she worked for 40 years until retiring in June of 2018.
Aretha was the beloved mother of Angela Coachman-King and her husband, Martin; loving grandmother of Jayden and Layla King; dear sister of Yolanda Winston, Alfreda Daniels, Solomon, Larry, Hillary Michael, and Irwin Coachman; and cherished aunt of Shawn Winston, Angel Williams, Renee Coachman, Marquita Owens, and Brianna Coachman. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
