Barbara J. Baker, 80, of Irvington, N.J., passed away on April 14, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Jersey City, N.J., and resided in Irvington for 55 years. She worked for NJ Transit in Maplewood, N.J., for 35 years in the cash management department. She also was a union delegate for the Amalgamated Transit Union Local No. 819. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Walter H. Baker, in 2015. Barbara was the loving mother of Rodney Baker and his wife, Kathleen, Bonnie Cuber, Ronald Baker and his wife, Heidi, Jeffery Baker and his wife, Betsy; adoring grandmother of Christopher, Annelise, Russell, Colleen, Briana, Jacob, and John; dear sister of Carolyn Van Der Wiele. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on April 17, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. 07083. A service will take place at the funeral home on April 18, 2019, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Crest Haven Cemetery, Clifton, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to Center for Hope, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, N.J. 07076.
