Arnaldo Apolito, M.D., 91, of Montclair, N.J., passed away on July 17, 2019.
Services will be on Tuesday, July 23, beginning at 9 a.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove, with private cremation at Rosedale Crematory, Montclair. Visitation will be on Monday, July 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.shookscedargrove.com.
Born in Ostigliano, Prov. di Salerno, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Antonia Apolito, Arnaldo came to the U.S. at the age of 25, and lived in Jersey City, N.J., Brooklyn, N.Y., and Passaic, N.J., before settling in Montclair.
Dr. Apolito was a board-certified psychiatrist, board-certified forensic psychiatrist, Karen Horney Analyst, and professor of psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He also had a private practice in Montclair.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Armando, Ettore, and Ugo Apolito, and Livia Mottola, Arnaldo is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Norma (nee Talbo); sons, Marcello Apolito, Alessandro A. Apolito (Lauren), Fabio Apolito (Mariah); grandchildren, Ruby, Vincenzo, Valentino, and Massimo; siblings, Olga Lancellotti and Antonio Apolito (Antonietta), and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Mental Health Association of New Jersey, Inc. or UNICO National.
