Anne A. Whitman

Anne Aleatha was born to Henry and Virginia (VanSelus) Sjoboen on February 8, 1939, in Redwood Falls, MN, but spent her growing up years in Washington State. In 1957, she graduated from Concrete High School, then went on to Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, OR, where she graduated in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in Business Education.

On August 12, 1961, in Oregon City, she was married to Jim Whitman. For several years Anne worked as a secretary until shortly after their first child, Steve, was born. Over the next nine years the family was blessed with two more children, Beth and Dan, and most of Anne's years were spent as a stay-at-home mom and a homemaker until the children were grown.

For about twenty years after the children were raised, she found enjoyment working in retail sales. She and Jim were also very active in the churches they attended, and her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was central to her life. She loved people, and the joy of the Lord shone in her gracious and loving personality.

The Lord took her home to be with Him on January 16, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Jim, their children, Steve (Kim) Whitman, Beth (Tom) Stroffolino and Dan Whitman, and their six grandchildren, Nick Lutgen, Lacey, Samantha and Hannah Whitman, and Ian and Ashley Stroffolino.

A celebration of her life will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 22116 SE 51st Place, Issaquah, WA 98029 at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 31. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Hospice or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
