John L. Wetenkamp
Faleceu
1938 ~ 2018
Our handsome, kind and witty husband, dad, and grandfather, John L. Wetenkamp, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 23, 2018 of natural causes. He is survived by the love of his life, Randa Wetenkamp, his children Colby Wetenkamp (Kris), Suzette Acord (Kelly), grandchildren Devan, Derek, Carli, (Josh), Nick, John, Kayla (Justin), and Joshua, and two great-grandchildren Treysen, and Oaklee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Joe Wetenkamp.
John was born on February 1, 1938 in Heber City, UT to Lloyd and Elnora Wetenkamp. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in business.
John retired from UDOT with whom he worked for 30+ years and made many lifelong friends. He spent his retired years doing the things he loved most with his wife and family. His passions were golf (but why watch when Tiger wasn't playing?), warm beaches, and NASCAR.
He leaves us with heavy hearts as he will be dearly missed, but he also leaves us with so many memories, words of wisdom, and wise cracks: "Did you grease the wheels?"; "Dilly Dilly"; "Is the plug in?"; "You can bump it in the fairway!!"; "You're rich, can I have a loan?"; "Rrraandyyy!!!"; "Does this have salt on it?"; "You think you know everything!"; "Hey, my lil buddy!"; always pointing out the big dipper; making his grandchildren "fly"; "Can't your mom afford pants without holes?"; walks to ShopKo; family boat rides; "Motor boat, motor boat, go so slow…Motor boat, motor boat, step on the gas!"; his reign of the "kings chair"; "A*$hole!"; "Did you bring your knee?". Keep listening dad as we will continue to ask for your sound advice!
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Mortuary, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. A visitation will be held prior to services from noon to 1:45.
