Faleceu
Lillian Lee "Ann" (Dobkins) Garrett
1935-2018
Lillian Lee "Ann" Dobkins Garrett of Lakeway passed away December 12, 2018 at the age of 83. Ann was born January 14, 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas, the oldest of four children, to Cecil and Rose Dobkins.
It was in Grapevine, while visiting a cousin, that Ann met the love of her life, Jack Garrett. The couple soon married and had two children, Marsha and Randy. While living in Fort Worth, Ann raised her children and began a career in banking. In 1964, the family was transferred to Houston where Ann continued her career working for a large bank in downtown Houston before being asked to be a part of a new community bank startup, InterFirst Bank Greenspoint, in 1970, where she became Senior Vice President and Marketing Director. Ann served on the board of the National Women's Banking Association and truly had a passion for her work. She loved helping businesses as well as making friends out of customers. Ann retired in 1991 and moved to Austin, TX where she was very involved in the Lakeway community as well as Riverbend Church.
Ann loved being a wife, mother, and grannie. She had a zest for life unlike anyone else. Those that knew Ann would describe a permanent smile and the ability to have fun anytime, anywhere. Ann's free spirit and sense of humor taught us all to live life to the fullest. She will be missed by so many.
Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Garrett, her parents, Cecil and Rose Dobkins, as well as her three younger brothers, Gene, Kenneth and Joel Dobkins. Ann is survived by two children; her daughter Marsha Lanehart and husband John Lanehart, son Randy Garrett and wife Carolyn Garrett; six grandchildren, Amanda Lanehart, Jaclyn Garrett Willbrand and husband Blake Willbrand, Lindsay Garrett Bradburn and husband Ian Bradburn, Tracey Lanehart Fisher and husband Matthew Fisher, Grant Garrett and wife Morgan Garrett, and Greg Lanehart and wife Chelsea Lanehart; as well as six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, we would very much appreciate donations to the Neuropathy Alliance of Texas in honor of Ann. https://neuropathyalliancetx.org/
