Barbara J. Plowden
Services are Wednesday for Newark great-grandmother
Barbara J. Plowden, age 80, made her transition on Dec. 30, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Newark, N.J., and a retired EKG technician at Mountainside Hospital.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Thomas C. Plowden; devoted mother of Deserie McDonald, Bonegal Spearman (Glenn), Vicki Plowden-Fitzpatrick (Craig) and the late Curtis and Thomas Plowden Jr.; dear daughter of the late Thorne and Almeta Baldwin; and loving sister of Elaine Baldwin, Sheila Wood and the late Thorne Baldwin.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Denise Young and Renee Moon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Zion Revival Temple, 29 Ross St., Newark, N.J. Interment is in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Whigham Funeral Home, 580 Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Blvd., Newark, N.J.
