Anne C. Piga (nee Winkler), 82, of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2018, at her daughter's home in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, at 10 a.m. Please be at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park in Linden, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J., Anne moved to Elizabeth in her teens where she met and fell in love with her husband, Salvatore "Sal".
She worked for the Elizabeth Police Department Traffic Division, as a crossing guard at the Bayway Circle for over 40 years, retiring in 2006. She loved all of the children she crossed and they loved her.
Anne was a past member of the Vallatese Ladies Society and the Valli Girls and Guys Bowling League in Elizabeth. Besides bowling, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, bingo, fishing, tricky tray auctions, and traveling with her husband, covering most of the U.S.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Nellie and James Winkler. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Salvatore "Sal" Piga; two loving children, Peter Piga (Eva) and SallyAnne Piga (Roberto); three caring sisters-in-law, Marianna Dubell, Josie, and Bella Piga, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Anne will be missed but not forgotten by her loving family and dear friends.
