Amelia Mae (Brown) Hazelwood

Amelia Mae Hazelwood, 96, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away at home surrounded by her children on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019.
Amelia retired from Middletown Township school system in New Jersey after over 25 years as an elementary teacher. After retirement she was an active volunteer with many organizations including The Crisis Center in Bristol, Va., and People Place in Bristol, Tenn., where she taught adults with developmental disabilities.
Amelia was well loved and many looked to her for advice and guidance. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Amelia was preceded in death by husband, Harold; her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hazelwood; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Vartan; son and daughter-in-law, David and Lynne Hazelwood; grandchildren, Melinda, Marcus, Chelsey, Derrick; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Johnny Memphis, Genevieve, and Alexander; special nieces, Connie, Sherry, Linda, Debbie, and their families, and a host of other family members and friends.
