CECIL HENRY SCHMIDT, JR.  
Cecil Henry Schmidt, Jr. of Burke, VA died unexpectedly yet peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 after a brief illness. Cecil was born in Natchez, MS on July 24, 1941, the oldest of seven children. Retired Naval aviator (AWCS), he served his country and family faithfully and well. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Svanhild Tengesdal Schmidt, and three children, Cecil H. Schmidt III (Rachel), Monica Schmidt Skipper (David), Steffen Tengesdal (Erin) and four grandchildren, Claudia Tengesdal, Ansley Skipper, Austin Tengesdal, and Mena Schmidt. He is also survived by his siblings James B. Herrington, Sandra J. Massie, David M. Herrington, Rickey E. Herrington, and several nephews and a niece. Services are planned for Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. Burial service to be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
