ANDREW WILLIAM HALLS
Andrew William Halls was born on September 6, 1957, at the U.S. military base in Okinawa, Japan to his parents Alexander and Sarah "Betty" Halls. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1980 with a degree in Business and returned just a few years later for his Masters in Computer Science. This blended skillset allowed him to pursue an interesting and diverse career. Andrew combined his knowledge of business and programming with his love for the outdoors and start-ups, and was a successful ski instructor, entrepreneur, and community member. More than anything, Andrew was a funny, generous, kind, and loving father, son, brother, uncle and husband. With Liz Anthony he raised two wonderful boys, Alexander and Philip. He taught them the value of hard work, empathy and never taking yourself too seriously. Throughout all of his professional endeavors and hobbies, Andrew was always the patient and supportive teacher, mentor and friend. His passion for the outdoors (hiking, skiing) and adventure brought him around to globe where he met his wife, Sabine. She is an avid dancer, and with her encouragement, Andrew became one too. Andrew passed away December 12, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Sabine Ruckriegel, his sons, Alexander Halls (Tanya) and Philip Halls (Jen); his mother, Betty Halls; and his sisters, Sandy Derge (Bill), Sherry Fizdale (Ed), and MaryBeth Sarr (Kevin). He is preceded in death by his father, Alexander. Andrew will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. In accordance with his wishes his ashes will be spread in his beloved mountains of Colorado in a private ceremony at a later date. A memorial will take place on February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. and held at Geneva Presbyterian Church, 11931 Seven Locks Rd., Rockville, MD 20854. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Andrew's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
