Our amazing dad, grandfather, uncle and friend Albert Victor Daly, passed peacefully December 22, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. Dad was born in Panguitch, Utah on March 8, 1930 to Walter B. Daly and Margaret DeLong Daly. Dad grew up in Panguitch and didn't leave until he got his music scholarship to the University of Utah. Dad never lost his memories of traveling with the band and marching songs. He received a Bachelor's Degree and met his sweetheart, Patricia Ann Pannier. They we married September 29, 1950.
Dad served in the Army during the Korean War. He said he threw up all the way to Korea and all the way back on the ship.
Now home as a civilian he got a job with Utah Power & Light. Being such an avid outdoorsman he went to school as a journeyman line man. He loved every minute outside and with his "Crew" who were also some of his best friends. There was an opening in the wild undeveloped north-Layton-Kaysville. He moved his family to Kaysville in 1957 and fell in love with the area. He retired from the Power Company after 37 years of service and then worked for the Forest Service at his beloved Panguitch Lake and gave school tours at Red Butte Gardens.
Being very civic minded he joined the Kaysville JC's. The star on the mountain was the project of his and those in the JC's. Vic was on the volunteer fire department and taught hunter's safety. Deer and pheasant hunting, fishing, both snow and water skiing, sailing or home improvement projects filled his weekends that often included trimming trees.
Somehow he was always available to every child, grandchild, nephew, niece or friend whenever they needed him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, his parents, five sisters and two brothers. He is survived by daughters; Bobbi Jo Flint (Steve), Nanette Nate (Randy), and Kati Collier (Jon). Also, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Vic's honor Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family thanks the Visiting Angels who "loved pa" and Independence Home and Hospice.
