Retired Montclair police lieutenant had a zest for life
Carmine Paul Pizzano, 83, of Montclair, N.J., passed away peacefully on March 30, 2020.
Carmine was born on Feb. 10, 1937, in Old Forge, Pa., and his family eventually settled on Pine Street in Montclair, N.J.
Carmine met his wife Connie, the love of his life, when he was 14 years old. Carmine was the football star ("All Metro" offensive guard and nose-tackle) and Connie was the twirler. They were married following high school graduation, and, shortly thereafter, Carmine entered the U.S. Marine Corps (1956-1958). During his time in the Marines, he had the honor of driving CNO Admiral Burke.
Carmine served (proudly )in the Montclair Police Department for 26 years, reached the rank of lieutenant prior to retirement, and also served as Local 53 PBA President. In addition, he worked in the produce department of the A&P for 33 years.
Carmine enjoyed his time in the casino, along with some of the finer things in life, including cigars, hot dogs and CocaCola!!
Carmine was predeceased by his wife, Connie (nee Testa); his parents, Paul and Josephine Pizzano; brothers, Dominick, Paul and Raymond.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Theresa DeAngelis (Dr. Tom) of Warren Township, N.J., and Cheryl McCabe (Sean) of Cedar Grove, N.J.; as well as five grandchildren, Tommaso and Marcello DeAngelis; and Casey(TJ), Meaghan and Sean Paul McCabe, whom he loved dearly. Carmine is also survived by his younger brother, Joseph, and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and friends who became family.
Arrangements are being made by Carmine's dear friends at Caggiano Memorial Home. A private burial will be Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. A Mass to celebrate his life will be held at a future date to be determined.
