BOETTIGHEIMER, Bernard David It is with extreme grief that we announce the death of Bernard (Bernie) Boettigheimer on February 6, 2020. He worked his entire life in finance and spent the last 36 years as an icon in the equipment finance industry. He leaves behind a rich legacy to family, friends, associates, and his wife of 63 years. Bernie was born October 14, 1932 to Rudolph and Eleanor Dunne Boettigheimer in Mount Vernon, NY and grew up in Pelham, NY the youngest of five children. He attended Regis and Blessed Sacrament High Schools. He graduated Iona College with a BBA in finance and later attended Loyola University in Chicago. Bernie was employed as an analyst for Dun & Bradstreet for his first four years out of college, later followed by Officer and Director positions with public corporations, Norge Division of Borg Warner Corp., Fednor Corp and B.W. Acceptance Corp. He moved to Dallas in 1969 as the CFO of ALD, Inc., a manufacturer of commercial laundry and car wash equipment. Bernie was the recipient of the prestigious "E Award" for excellent growth in export sales by President Ronald Reagan in March 1982. In September 1983 he left corporate life to form Pioneer Leasing (later changed to Pioneer Capital Corp.). Bernie was a Director of Western Association of Equipment Lessors in 1988 and 1989. Many members remember his entrance as convention chairman riding in on a large Brahman Bull to give his welcome speech In September 2004 Pioneer Capital Corp was sold to IFC Credit Corporation and Bernie retired in April 2006. A few months later he realized there was still work to be done for the leasing industry, formed Lease Police, Inc. and served as its President. He was a very proud man who believed in the concepts of respect, honor, integrity and hard work. His work ethic was unparalleled. He retired three times during his life, but every time he "unretired" just weeks later. At the time of his death, he was still working. His unselfish ways were legendary. Bernie never hesitated to help a relative, friend or employee in dire circumstances and affected countless people's lives. He gave his entire heart and love to his family and received his greatest joy from those endeavors. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Rudolph, Robert, William, and sister Eleanore and survived by his loving wife of 63 years Barbara Ann Boettigheimer; his children: Larry Boettigheimer and wife Stephanie, Doris Bonvino and husband Nick, and John Boettigheimer. "Papa" will be especially missed by his beloved grandchildren Trey and Brandon Bonvino, and Bret Boettigheimer, his constant companion and best buddy for the last 14 years. Visitation will be at Sparkman Hillcrest on Northwest Highway on Wednesday, February 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and funeral services at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday, February 13 at 11:00 am.
