JONES, Barbara M. Barbara M. Jones was born June 17, 1925, she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020. Always joyful, the sound of her laughter will be missed by her family and innumerable friends. Barbara possessed so many talents painting, drawing, writing, a great comic wit, a devious mind, the capacity to love greatly and is loved so much by her family and innumerable friends. Born in Rochester, Indiana on her mother's birthday, June 17, 1925, she was good at sports as a child baseball, Golden Gloves sparing with the boys in her dad's class, the rifle range and she was the first girl to receive a 'Letter' at Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, Indiana for all-around athleticism. At age 20, she eloped and married Emil Jacobsen of the Bronx, NY. In 1953, she married again to Ernest L. Jones of Rochester, Indiana. After working 30 years at Inland Steel Company as a secretary, she retired and moved with Ernie to Lake Tawakoni in Quinlan, Texas. Barbara loved animals -- all of them. At the lake, she fed possums, rescued baby owls and wouldn't even kill a spider. At age 75, she got a tattoo of two small hearts on her palm for all the dogs and cats she had loved. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Goldie M. Hodge and Rex D. Shobe, her husband Ernest L. Jones and her only sister Betty L. Barkley. She is survived by her daughter, Cherri L. Densmore of Dallas, step-son Rodger L. Jones of Guam; two granddaughters Courtney L. Selah and Heather (Dale) M. Shover of Dallas; step granddaughters Kellie Jones and Melanie Linder of Indiana; great-grandchildren London Selah, Dylan and Elena Shover (also born on June 17) of Dallas, TX; Stephen, Nate, Jackie, Jacob, Katrina and Grace of Indiana; niece Kim (Michael) Wriston and nephew Scott Barkley of Dallas. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 22nd, 2 pm at her daughter's home in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations to or Operation Kindness would be appreciated.
