FLATT, Alvin Wayne Alvin Wayne rested peacefully in the arms of Our Lord January 27, 2020. He was born March 13, 1928 in Gainsboro, TN. to Minnie Brown Flatt and Jean Flatt. He was named after the Tn. WW1 hero of great fame, Alvin York. Much of his early life was spent in Nashville where he lived in a house now marked with a historic designation in the old historic district. His father helped build the Shelby Park Bridge. He loved country western music and had a rich baritone voice that he used in school plays and church choirs. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Flatt, daughter Deborah Flatt, son Jeff Flatt, step-sons, Richard Lamb, Douglas Lamb, step-daughters Dianne Barrett and Darlene Martin, their children and grandchildren. He was a graduate of Nashville High School and attended Vanderbilt University. "Wayne" served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a dedicated State Farm Agent for 45 years in the Preston Center area of Dallas, Texas. Tennis and golf were his great passions. In his retirement years, he was a greeter at American Air Lines, DFW and was a docent at Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum. He and Joan found much joy in traveling the world together. His dry wit and charm are no doubt making the angels laugh. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital.
