Eduardo Rocco Basurto

Died

Eduardo Rocco Basurtp died December 27th, 2019. Born in Mexico City on July 3rd, 1931 to Manuel Carlos Basurto and his wife, Anna Maria. Eduardo had a long and healthy life until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September, 2019. He passed onto his heavenly home at the age of 88.

At the age of 10, he received his first Holy Communion at the Basillica of Guadalupe in Mexico City. When he was 15, Eduardo came to the United States to attend Burbank High School in San Antonio, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. He later received his Master of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Eduardo had many rewarding jobs throughout his life, the most of which being his involvement in the NASA space program during the early Apollo missions.

Eduardo is survived by his wife, Jimmie Faye, his three daughters, Trisha Basurto, Edie Wright, and Bonnie Burnside, and his step-sons Chad and Jim Young. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eduardo has one sister, Martha, who lives in Mexico City. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura and Anna Maria, his son Manny Basurto, and his daughter, Linda Beech.

Next to God and his family, Eduardo loved college football, especially the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys. He and his wife enjoyed taking trips to South Bend, IN to see Irish home games.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, January 2nd at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive at 1 p.m. in Plano, TX. Immediately following the service there will be an open house at the Basurto home in Plano.

Mr. Basurto donated his body to the Willed Body Program at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His family would like to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their tender caring and concern for his comfort in his final days.
