Printing firm co-owner who started in the industry as a youth, 'a good friend with a huge heart,' devoted to his family, 59
Edward Christilles, 59, died suddenly on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 at home.
Born in Newark, N.J., Ed grew up in Garwood, N.J., before settling to South Plainfield.
A 1978 graduate from David Brearley High School in Kenilworth, N.J., during his youth Ed was an avid soccer player, played in the drum line for the high school marching band, and later was a drummer in the band Garwood Metal. He enjoyed camping, photography, electronics and golf but his children and their activities was where he found most of his enjoyment. Ed was a good friend with a huge heart and the best husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by many.
He was the co-owner and operator of Advanced Printing in Garwood, having started working there over 40 years ago as a teen, learning all aspects of the business and eventually becoming co-owner.
Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughters, Samantha and Jennifer Christilles; son, Jason Christilles (Bobbie-Jo Raposo) and grandson, Jax Robert Christilles. Also surviving are numerous extended relatives, colleagues and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, N.J. 07080. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
