Barbara A. Gawel, 82, of Clark, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral begins at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45 a.m., thence to St. Agnes Church, Clark, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:45 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Mrs. Gawel was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to Stephen and Gladys (Legan) Janasie. She was a resident of Clark for 58 years.
Mrs. Gawel was an executive secretary at AGP/Gentech of Linden, N.J., for 17 years, retiring in 1995. She was a volunteer at St. Agnes Church. She enjoyed knitting and playing bridge, but especially loved attending her grandson Michael's concerts.
Mrs. Gawel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Gawel, and her sister, Joan Tacca.
She is survived by her devoted children, John Gawel, Mark Gawel and his wife Lila, and Lisa Dews and her husband David; her cherished grandsons, Michael and Kevin; her brother-in-law, Frank Tacca; her sister-in-law, Sheila Gawel; and many loving nieces and nephews.
