WWII veteran, ShopRite general manager, 'family came first'
Canio Zarrillo, 92, longtime Montclair, N.J., resident, passed away Dec. 24, 2019.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Montclair.
Canio was the general manager of Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield for many years, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Family came first, and he enjoyed vacationing at The Limetree in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian (nee Niosi), and by his children, Thomas Zarrillo and his wife, Debra, MaryAnn Symons and her husband, Edward, Nancy Mulzet and her husband, Glenn, Susan Umbach and her husband, John, and Lisa Tyrrell; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Butt, and sister-in-law, Colleen Zarrillo.
Canio was predeceased by his siblings, Vincenza Fiorovanti, Josephine Butt, and Michael Zarrillo, and by his great-grandson, Canio Zarrillo.
