Catherine Zec died peacefully, with family by her side, on Nov. 26, 2019.
Catherine was born in Bayonne, N.J., in 1923. After marrying her husband, Paul, in 1942, she lived in her home in Bogota, N.J., for 61 years prior to moving to Hillsborough, NJ.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Paul Zec; her parents, Bridget and Patrick Sharkey; her sisters, Anne Waters, Josephine Saunders, Sr. Patrick, O.S.B, Sr. Giles, O.S.B, and her brother, Jack Sharkey. Catherine's children are son, Paul Zec and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Zec, and son, Donald Zec. Catherine's grandchildren are Patrick Zec, Mary Catherine O'Malley, Jennifer Reed, and Jessica Lawrence. Catherine also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren, Hugh (seven) and Nora (three) O'Malley, Michael Zec (six), and Emma (four) and Austin (two) Reed.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Hwy. 206, Hillsborough, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at 10 a.m., at Mary, Mother of God Church, 157 South Triangle Rd., Hillsborough.
