Died

KNOWLES, Audrey Beatrice Audrey Beatrice Knowles of Grand Prairie and Plano, Texas passed peacefully from complications of cancer October 7, 2019. Audrey fought a courageous 10-year battle with cancer and was a warrior to the end (our warrior princess). Audrey was born November 1, 1935, in Wauchula, Florida to William and Lula Knowles. The family moved to Texas in 1948. After graduating from Crozier Tech High School, Audrey began working at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator then worked as an illustrator for Parents magazine before beginning work at Chance Vought (now Lockheed Martin). Audrey remained at Chance Vought for the remainder of her career retiring after more than four decades. She received numerous awards and honors for her many years of service and dedication to her employer. Audrey loved to travel and her wanderlust was infectious. She enjoyed many trips with friends and family and loved to introduce those she deeply cared for to her love of travel. Audrey was a voracious reader and had a deep love for classical and jazz music. She also enjoyed movies from modern to the classics she was always up for a movie. Gardening was a passion for her - she enjoyed spending time outside nurturing her garden and watching her many flowers bloom. She was extremely generous, selflessly and quietly giving to those she loved. She was like a second mom to her nieces and nephews. She was wise and always had time to listen, no matter how trivial the subject and she did so without any judgment. She opened up her home willingly to many over the years. She was a bit eccentric, fiercely independent, and strongly opinionated. Audrey was preceded in death by both parents, sister Polly Murphy, brothers Bill and Marvin Knowles. She is survived by sisters Bettie Difiore and Sandra Duckworth. Although Audrey never had children, she is survived by and loved and admired by numerous nieces and nephews that she encouraged, disciplined and dearly loved. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the , Faith Presbyterian Hospice or any other nonprofit. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2nd at noon in Fairview, Texas.
