Alice Peterson "sally" Head

Died

HEAD, Alice "Sally" Peterson Alice "Sally" Peterson Head, age 84, died October 8, 2019 in Grand Prairie, Texas while living a full and busy life. Sally was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Walter and Margaret Peterson. She grew up in Wisconsin, and in 1955 earned her degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA. In 1957, she married Jim Head. Jim, Sally and their four children moved to Texas in 1970. Sally's Lutheran beliefs set the foundation for her entire life. Music was an integral part of the expression of her faith. For many years, she was involved in service and support of Wycliffe and Lutheran Bible Translators. Sally's deep dedication to ESL programs was a reflection of her great love and care for people of different nations and cultures. Countless immigrants have learned English and gained their citizenship due to Sally's efforts. She would want it to be known that she was a proud Democrat. Interest in health and fitness led her to become a Body Recall instructor in 1994. She continued to teach these classes through August of this year. One of her life's greatest adventures was taking her dear grandchildren Kristofor, Lauren, Cameron, Kathryn and Madison on a tour of Norway. Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jim Head, brother Don (Helen) Peterson and sister Louise (Herb) Patterson. She is survived by brother-in- law John (Pat) Head, sons Jeff (Cathy), Phil (Denna), Jonathan (Tami), daughter Sigrid (Michael) Magallanes, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be November 2, 2019, 3:30 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5851 New York Ave, Arlington, Texas. Sally's body was donated to UT Southwestern Medical Center. Internment at the Dallas-Ft Worth National Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent in support of Amy Formella, Lutheran Bible Translators, PO Box 789, Concordia, MO 64020. She only lived once, and she did it right!
